For Christmas this year, I got two doggie cookbooks. I am not a cook. My husband does most of the cooking and I can get by with some basic recipes. I do like to bake so I was excited to receive these cookbooks. Let me tell you, these cookbooks (Three Dog Bakery Cookbook and Organic Dog Biscuit Cookbook) don’t mess around. I’m a bit intimidated by many of the recipes in the book, but I found one in the Three Dog Bakery Cookbook that I thought would be a good first attempt. The Three Dog Bakery Simple Simon Birthday Bones are basically a Peanut Butter Bone. I thought that would be a good first try though I did cut back on the peanut butter a little bit because Tucker can have a little tummy sensitivity if he has too much.
The Three Dog Bakery Simple Simon Birthday Bones recipe can be found here. Basic ingredients of skim milk, peanut butter, baking powder and whole wheat flour. I used my bone, golden retriever and fire hydrant cookie cutter. The dough was a bit hard for me to roll out, but all in all, a pretty easy recipe to make and Tucker seems to enjoy them–in moderation of course!
Now I want to hear from you. What do you make for your dog?
